Accidental Survivors: The Modern Gaming Podcast
The Modern Role-Playing Game Podcast
Congratulations to Fraser and his family!

Their new baby girl, Eun-Hye Fiona, was born in Ottawa at 13:35 weighing 8 lbs 7 oz on Wednesday, January 28th. That's a goodly sized little girl!

We here at the Accidental Survivors Secret Underground Control Room extend our fondest wishes and our biggest, heartiest congratulations to Fraser, his wife, and big sister Christina. All the best!

I'm excited to announce that the Accidental Survivors (two of them) are going to be heading to GenCon Indy this August! We are very, very excited about this. We are busily finalizing transportation, a room, and the more important items like Accidental Survivor t-shirts and business cards.

Drop us a line and let us know if you're going to be there, too! We'd love to meet with some of our listeners over a beer and a chicken wing or two, and perhaps Fraser will run us through one of his "low magic" adventures.

Telemetry, go. Communications, go. Retro thusters thrustering. The Accidental Survivors are go!

So, it looks as though the Accidental Survivors - or, at least, a couple of us - may be going to GenCon this year. We're still working out the logistics, but we've gotten the all-clear on the home front, so now it's just figuring out time off at work and where we're going to lay our heads and then it's off to Indianapolis in August! With any luck you're going to get a chance to see Fraser, Rob and Colin (one of our early guest hosts) at Indy.

As exciting as attending the largest gaming convention in the entire universe is, we are equally excited to get to meet members of the RPG podcasting community. We are hoping to spend as much time as possible looking into new modern-themed RPG products, speaking to the publishers of them, and generally getting the word out to you, the listener, about them - we know you love to hear our opinions!

The Accidental Survivors are go!

. . . as they say.

Yeah, we're done recording episode 10, and it's in the editing stage now. Editing can be a lengthy process, so don't expect to see episode 10 up until the week of April 27.

Hope that's not too long of a wait. See you then!

Got the recording of episode 8 done, tentatively titled "Chainmail Bikini," for reasons explicated in the show. Unfortunately, I (Fraser) have had a busy week. My wife and I are buying a house, and my sister and her family dropped by a day earlier than planned--so the time I had set aside for editing disappeared. The new episode should be up next week.

For those of you playing in a Bond-ian campaign, Fistful of Comics (and Games) has an epsiode all about Espionage. Check it out while you wait for our next podcast (it's on the way, just delayed, and it's my fault)

In case the mention of Alien Invasion from episode 2 whet your appetite, you might be interested to know that it's out. Alien Invasion is now available at RPG Now.

I'm a little biased, as I got a preview copy and had David Gallant--one of the editors--as a guest host on episode 2, but I have to say that Alien Invasion looks good. The layout is really eye-catching. I've only skimmed it rather than read through it completely, but it looks pretty darn interesting. There's a great history of alien contact that got me hooked. If you are running an X-Files type campaign, or even an Independence Day campaign, you'll find plenty of good background info here.

See ya around

Hey All, Fraser here

So I finally saw Crank, the movie we talked about in Episode 1. It's a fun movie, much in the vein of Transporter 2 (which also had someone injected with a sci-fi serum). It's easy, escapist entertainment, but it's not great. If you want to see Jason Statham kicking butt (and having sex in front of Korean schoolgirls), then check it out. There really isn't much to mine from this movie for your campaign, but Statham does a great job of playing tough guy.

Hey All

Figured that this might be of interest to those who enjoyed our last podcast. IMDB.com has a new Casino Royale trailer up. Looks good. Lots of action and no hints of any silly gadgets. Could this be a return to old-style Bond action? We can hope!
