Are the PCs involved in the Siege of Mafeking or are maybe meeting Winston Churchill  during the Second Boer War 

In World War I, you could run games set in the Arab Revolt, there's espionage, or you could go the alt-history Soldiers and Spellfighters route.

Commandos, SAS or the Red Orchestra  (perhaps attempting to retrieve the Blutfahne) during World War II

The Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG), riverine warfare, or just plain weird stuff (like the Korean movie R-Point) in the Vietnam War.

3. The Hook

What if the PCs are part of an SAS team (one of the Special Raiding Squadrons) in Italy in Aug/Sept 1943, only to intercept information that Otto Skorzeny, famed German commando, is in the area. This would be near Gran Sasso d'Italia, a mountain located in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. Mussolini is being held at Campo Imperatore. The actual rescue of Mussolini by Skorzeny took place on Sept 12, but can your SRS foil Skorzeny's attempt? Perhaps even capture the German hero?

Heart of the Hunter, Sam Chupp's fantasy novel, is now complete. Sam describes this novel as being in the style of Steven Brust's Jhereg novels, using pastiches and cognates of real-world cultures in order to convey a sense of culture and place.
